Leadershape at Ohio State, September 14-19, 2009

LeaderShape 2007 Participants

What is LeaderShape?  LeaderShape is a six-day national institute hosted specifically for Ohio State students.  It is an intensive, energizing, and unique experience that builds leadership skills that no other program can match!  It is six days of non-stop self-discovery and learning from practical experiences that build your leadership concepts and abilities. It's go, go, go 12 hours a day... And you'll love it!

Ohio State will be one of over 80 campuses that will host the LeaderShape Institute in 2009.  Sixty Buckeye students are selected each year to attend LeaderShape – students who are already involved on campus and those who are just getting started, students from diverse ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. Since 1986, nearly 30,000 participants from more than 200 different colleges, universities, companies and other organizations across America and even internationally have graduated from LeaderShape.

LeaderShape can help you make things happen.  Larry Page, co-founder of Google, attended LeaderShape as a student at the University of Michigan.  In 2009 he delivered their commencement address and credited LeaderShape in helping teach him to "make dreams real."  View his address online here.  Countless other LeaderShape alumni have gone on to make impacts big and small in our local and global communities.  LeaderShape can help you make your own dreams real.

At the LeaderShape Institute, participants create a personal vision to work on after they leave. The objective is to take something each person is passionate about and create a vision to help share that idea with friends, campus, the community, and the world.  LeaderShape also provides the tools to help effectively implement your vision once participants return to campus.

The Week in Review - LeaderShape utilizes highly interactive program methods rather than classroom lectures. Everyone is a teacher and everyone is a learner. A great deal of work is done in small groups, called family clusters. The Family Cluster provides a supportive, safe environment, which promotes learning and the development of new skills and attitudes. Another unique feature of LeaderShape is the Team Challenge Course. This half-day outdoor team-building experience teaches concepts of trust, communication, and problem solving.

Participants Learn How To:

  • Create a Powerful Vision
  • Build Successful Teams
  • Implement Action Plans
  • Evaluate Personal Strengths and Challenges
  • Experience the Dynamics of Group Problem-solving
  • Communicate with Care and Impact
  • Utilize Ethics and Values in Decision-making
  • Understand Power and Influence
